Pennington Day Grants Committee Awards $10,000 in Grants for 2007
On Monday, November 19, 2007, the Pennington Day Grants Committee came together at borough hall in Pennington to officially announce and hand out this year’s grants to organizations throughout the Hopewell Valley and Mercer County. The awarding of grants is in line with Pennington Day’s mission of furthering the Hopewell Valley’s community spirit and identity as a community and enhancing its quality of life. Pennington Day also provides community groups, civic organizations and businesses an opportunity to inform the community of their mission and allow these organizations to raise funds through their sponsorship of Pennington Day events and/or the booths they set up. The last part of Pennington Day’s mission is to disburse any funds in excess of expenses to charitable organizations within the Hopewell Valley. Pennington Day, Inc., is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. To make applying for future grants easier and less stressful, the grants committee hopes to create a model or example of a well-written application and post it on penningtonday.com in 2008 – in time for the 2008 application period which runs from approximately mid-June to October 1.
2005 and 2006 Grant Recipients
Grants totalling over $12,000 were announced for both 2005 and 2006 at a meeting of the Pennington Day Grants Committee in February 2007. A special reception for all of the organizations awarded a grant in 2006 was held at Pennington Borough Hall at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 20 (see photo left). See list of recipients.
Pennington Day Receives 501(c)(3) Tax Status as a Nonprofit
